INTRODUCTION TO AN AUSSIE WORSHIP LEADER

Dear you, Thanks for joining me.

It has occurred to me that after 30+ years of leading worship in churches of all types, there are probably some things, experiences, methods, advice, etc that I can share that will help other worship leaders, music directors, musicians, singers, and maybe even some pastors out there. (For pastors, especially when it comes to understanding that strange breed called the "Worship Leader".)

My name is Erick Buma. I have been in love with Jesus since I was 14 years old. I have been a singer since I could walk, and started playing guitar when I entered high school. When I gave my life to Christ, I also started writing songs. I have recorded 2 albums, written a number of worship songs, been involved with many churches in capacity as musician, singer, Worship Leader, Music Director, and visiting artist / worshipper.

I have for the past decade and a half with my best mate Darin Browne, himself a gifted songwriter/musician and music Director for Evangelist Bill Newman; recorded a number of albums, working as backing vocalist and vocal arranger, as well as part time engineer. We get together once a week and record "The Worship Leaders Podcast", free for download through iTunes or from the website http://www.worshipleaderonline.com/ . Darin and I have more than one thing in common: we love music, we love God, and we love to Worship Him. We also long to see a church well equipped to worship God, to seek His face, desiring holiness and closeness to Jesus above all.

So, about this blog.

Of late I have been doing a bit of writing; Just sharing my experiences, and I thought there must be a way to share this with a larger audience. Here I am!
I hope and trust that in the coming posts you will be encouraged, strengthened, stretched and blessed. And I hope that the things I share will help you to be a better, more anointed worship leader, in whatever position you may find yourself.

I look forward to hearing back from you your comments and reactions. This is about community, and building the Kingdom of God. If this does not apply to you, maybe you have stumbled across the wrong page. No worries, I am not offended.

I am not a professional writer, nor necessarily eloquent in speech, so please, take it as it comes.

God bless you, have a great week!
